About this campaign
I am raising money to fund the costs of becoming a certified birth educator as well as a certified doula (a woman who is trained to assist another woman during childbirth and who may provide support to the family after the baby is born.)
After the traumatic delivery of my preemie twins in 2011, I began searching for ways to heal. It was at this time that I first learned about doulas and other birth workers. It became a passion of mine to learn about all facets of pregnancy and childbirth. A couple years later, my sister in law, pregnant with my first niece, suggested that I would make a great doula myself and the light bulb went off. With young kids at home, it wasn't the time to chase my dreams quite yet but now, with my youngest two girls turning 5 this year, I am signed up for a retreat to become a certified birth educator (to teach classes to expecting couples) and will follow up in the fall by started the 1-2 year long coursework to becoming a certified doula as well. These certifications are very detailed, professional and as you can imagine, costly. I am a stay-at-home mom to three amazing girls and could use all the help I can get. My awesome husband of almost 10 years thought of this t-shirt design as a way to help. I hope you like it. Thank you for considering to support my journey! --Heather
