Wobby's Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser

Dear Family and Friends,

I am humbly inviting you to join me on a special journey of raising $15,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation! I was recently selected as one of the “Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Twin Cities Finest”, which is an award given to 25 local professionals honored for their success in their field and involvement in their community. In accepting this distinction, I have committed to raise money to help the Foundation achieve its mission. I feel lucky to be recognized for this honor but even luckier to have learned about Cystic Fibrosis and the 30,000 children and adults in the United States who are battling this life-threatening disease.

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease caused by a defective gene whose protein causes the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections as well as obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food. Only 60 years ago, children born with CF rarely lived to see Elementary School. As a dad of a three-year-old and one-year-old-twins, this really hits home for me. But today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond.

The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure CF and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatments, and ensuring access to high quality, specialized care. It is truly an honor and a privilege to be raising money for this incredible organization.
