Wendell E. Green Elementary School Co-curricular and Extracurricular Expansion

Wendell E. Green Elementary School is a small, neighborhood school with approximately 350 students in pre-K through 8th grade, who are filled with so much potential. Our school has risen to Level 1 Chicago Public School status within the past year. The current co-curricular and extracurricular program offerings include the Junior Beta team, basketball, tennis, dance with the Red Clay Dance Company, chorus with the Chicago Children's Choir, and the chess club. However, we are not able to offer all of these great activities to every grade level. Most of these activities are only available to the 5th through 8th graders, with limited participation of 2nd through 4th graders. In addition, our Junior Beta team has performed so well that five victorious students will go on to compete in the National Junior Beta competition in June 2015, in the subject areas of math, language arts, talent, spelling, and science. These students, who have so wonderfully represented Wendell Green in competition, especially need funding for their travel expenses for the National competition in June.
