About this campaign

I have joined the ranks of those who are looking for a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.  I am personally affected daily by T1D because my son was diagnosed at the age of 3.  He is a champ and because of him I have gained so many friends that I would never have known otherwise.  Please help my family, and every family, friend, and PERSON with Type 1 Diabetes to find a cure.  For a simple $20 (Plus shipping) you can have a memento that not only shows you care, but that you helped others in their search for a better life.   Thank you !

My Son, a boy just like any other, over the course of a week became very ill.  We thought he was just getting sick, like kids tend to do A LOT.  One morning I woke up, and had made him a doctors appointment because of the lack of appetite and weight loss he had been experiencing, thinking he had just an average ear infection. When I went to wake him that morning, he was almost unresponsive, and his breathing very extremely labored.  I rushed him into the closet Doctors office I could find and they had him put immediately onto oxygen and sent by ambulanced on his way to Cardinal Glennon.  They could not stabilize him on the Ambulance and were forced to go to the closest hospital on route.  After about 2 hours there in the ER, and a crash cart (that narrowly avoided), they finally got him to an point that they could send him on.  They then air lifted him to the children's hospital where he was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic. That was almost 2 years ago.  My son will be 5 this may, and is the biggest champ I have met and takes daily injections without a complaint.  He refuses candy and snacks from friends that do not know he can't eat them without a shot, and he is only a child.  So much responsibility and he handles it with Pride.  He has so much Life and so much love I just want him, and every other person who deals with this daily to have a way out.  A cure. This is why I am raising money and pushing so hard for the research for so many people, not just my son, but Every person with T1D.
