About this campaign

We have recently established the Coast Guard Hockey Organization to consolidate Coast Guard hockey involvement under one umbrella, bringing the population even closer together. With a focus on community, yourcontributionswill help facilitate our Coast Guard Hockey Cup tournaments, which are open to players of all levels, both on and off the ice. Additionally, you can assist teamCoast Guard in the World Police and Fire Games and Armed Services Hockey Classic. Finally, but most important, funds help us to pass it forward and grow ourinvolvementwith such organizations as the West Michigan Special HockeyAssociation.

The Coast Guard traces its hockey roots back to the onset of World War II. It was at the Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore, Maryland the “Cutters” were formed. Starting play in 1942, they played two seasons in the Eastern Amateur Hockey League, winning the league championship in their only full year as they were disbanded midway through the second season due to a surge in the war. This team holds particular distinction having six players go on to the Hockey Hall of Fame and/or American Hockey Hall of Fame. They were so good in fact that they held their own in an exhibition game against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings. We carry that tradition to this day.
