This 1939 Ford Coupe has been around my family much longer than I have, and it's been a project for as long as I know. It has always been my fathers dream to finish it and just be able to drive it.
There have been many ups and downs, hurdles, and other finanacial priorities that have caused the '39 to be put on the back burner, and I admit, I wasn't much help. My father spoiled me rotten, growing up I had bicycles, scooters, four wheelers, mini choppers and my very first vehicle was a fully custom 1990 Chevy Blazer. He wanted to give me everything he had to work for, at my age. I am a Daddys Girl.
It's my turn. My dad has done everything for everyone, without even a second thought. He never puts himself first, never has, never will. So I'm making it a goal to finish his car for him. So he can FINALLY drive it and enjoy it!
For as long as I can remember, it has never had a full interior, just two brown, cloth seats. The doors and trunk were shaved and door poppers installed by whoever had worked on the car before, it even had a button under the running board that you could tap with your foot and the doors would pop open. I thought it was the coolest thing when I was a little girl. I would go out into the garage and just sit in the car for fun, pretending to drive it.
On very rare occasions, dad would pull the car out of the garage, (after hours of working on it just to get it in decent running condition, as the motor and transmission were not the greatest.) and he would pick me up from school.
The car was transported from our home in Iowa to a shop here in Arizona. The car was repainted, and had some motor, wiring and transmission work done, but again, financial priorities are in the way, my father owns a trucking company, and for those that don't know, the costs of keeping dump trucks in top running and legal shape, is NOT cheap. There's tags, licenses, insurance, permits, fuel, and of course maintenance. Which is much more important to stay on top of.
So as of right now, the car is in my possession here in Arizona, my fianceè owns a custom car shop and if we can get the funds, we can finish the car. It still needs suspension work, new glass for all the windows, full interior, more wiring work and motor work, new door poppers 're-installed, and maybe some other things to make it perfect for him. Will you help us?
I will gladly post update photos, videos and if we can get it all done, I will post the surprise reaction video, which I will need to plan a reveal! :)
Everyone deserves their dream ride. Please help me give my dad his!
P.s. If you personally know my dad, please keep this a secret! Don't spill the beans :P
