About this campaign

Substance Abuse affects over 23.5 million Americans and approximately one in every 10 Americans over the age of 12 has a form of Substance Addiction. However, only 11% of those people get treatment. While these people undergo treatment they are usually placed in a halfway home which places them in restricted areas with very little outside communication. "The Julia Project" was formed to support people undergoing rehab to help make the process a little bit better. " The overall goal of " The Julia Project" is to send care packages to local halfway homes. Inside the boxes will include things such as toiletries, activities and a journal. Also, inside each box will be a handwritten letter of encouragement written by someone in the community. My ultimate goal is 500 boxes to donate to Halfway homes in Metro Atlanta. Please consider buying a shirt to help raise these funds and to help encourage "The Julia Project". I also invite you to follow my blog where I will keep updates of my journey through the next couple of months! Thank you in advance for helping me make a difference!

God_Blessed_me_with_a_cousin_only_14_months_older_than_me_Allowing_me_to_spend_every_summer__holiday_with_someone_who_mjpgI formed " The Julia Project" in honor of my cousin , Julia Leigh Sanchez, who passed away in October of 2015. Julia struggled with substance abuse off and on until she passed away. While Julia underwent treatment she was placed in a halfway home and she kept a journal of her experience in the home. Journaling became Julia's outlet those months she spent there. " The Julia Project " will give others the opportunity to turn their situation into a more positive and healing experience. Julia was the most loving and caring person and she tried to help everyone she could while she was here on earth and now " The Julia Project" want to continue her legacy by creating the care packages to sending them to Halfway homes in the Metro Atlanta area. We hope to include a minimum of 10 items per box and send out a total of 500 boxes in the next couple of months to help teens and young adults that are currently in a halfway home have a boost of hope and encouragement.

My son died (20 y/o)from a heroin overdose on 10/9/14. I have started a scholarship at his high school & helped GA Overdose Prevention distribute rescue kits. I definitely want to do more & sounds like kits could help integrated with your project.
