Teigan's Troop

Teigan Beehner was born January 29th, 2012 and at 8 days old was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. This was devastating news to our family. The phone call we received will forever replay in my mind. Though the average age of people living with CF has increased to 37, young children are still dying from this disease everyday. We are determined and dedicated to helping find a cure and add tomorrows for our sweet little boy and the many others affected by this devastating disease!  Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that: clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food. In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond. Each donation recieved brings us closer to a cure. Teigan now a playful and silly three year old unknowingly deals with this disease every minute of everyday with aerosol treatments, enzymes, vitamins, salt, chest physiotherapy, and a number of other medications all being part of the treatment regiment to keep him healthy.  We want to work hard to help CF stand for cure found and all of the people suffering from Cystic Fibrosis live a full and healthy life.
