About this campaign

Wayne was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis of the Lungs and now needs a transplant of both lungs.  He is in the hospital waiting for a healthy pair of lungs and will remain in the hospital for up to 2 weeks afterwards.  He will then live near Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans for another three months in case his body rejects the lungs.  Please help us with medical expenses dealing with his lung transplant.  Thank you.

In November of 2013, Wayne was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis of the Lungs.  After a 4 day stay in the hospital, he was released but had to rely on oxygen 24/7 and was placed on permanent disability.  The disease causes high blood pressure in his lungs so we had to make sure that he is not under any stress.

Wayne’s disease remained stable for over a year, but he was readmitted into the hospital on February 13, 2015.  After several tests at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, on the 18th, doctors decided that Wayne was in a dire need to have a lung transplant, so Wayne was transferred to Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans.  Both lungs need to be transplanted and he will remain at Ochsner until then.

Wayne will be in ICU for at least 3 days after the lung transplant and will then return to his room at Ocshner for another 2 more weeks.  Once he is released, Wayne will have to stay in an apartment very close to to Ochsner for 3 months in case his body rejects the lungs.  Time will be crucial in saving his life

UPDATE: March 11th - Wayne has breathed on his own for two nights!  What a Mighty God we Serve!!!

UPDATE: March 6th - Thanks be to God.  Wayne is moving from ICU back to a regular room this evening.  His new lungs are working well and he is getting stronger every day.

***UPDATE:  Last night, March 3, a healthy pair of lungs were flown in out of state and Wayne went in for surgery around 1am.  At 9am, the surgery is complete and Wayne is in ICU.

Wayne will be on several different medications for the rest of his life after receiving his new lungs.  We are asking for donations to help with medical expenses in and out of hospital as well as the medicines and medical appointments he will have to go to.   We appreciate anything that you can contribute.  Thank you.
