Help Alecko Eskandarian Win Man of the Year for Cancer

A few months ago when I agreed to take part in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year campaign, I expressed some concern and hesitation because I had not been personally affected by cancer up to that point in my life. Within weeks, a very close friend and a family member were diagnosed with thymic cancer and leukemia. I've felt frustration, anger, and pain since then, which culminated with my good friend and former teammate Shawn Kuykendall passing away 2 weeks ago. I have walked away with a new sense of motivation to do everything I can to help prevent, treat, and defeat cancer. And I'd like to represent those who can still help make a difference despite not having a tragic personal connection, because, as I learned the hard way, chances that you will are getting higher and higher. It is my hope that we can all help to do what we can now, so it is not too late later on.
