About this campaign

Ryder and Megan need our help. On 12/19/14, Ryder went from a healthy, happy 2 year old boy to a 2 year old fighting for his life against kidney cancer. Help our Ninja; Go Ninja Go Ninja Go!!

1486904_10206002285045360_5289403066231939451_njpgOn December 19, 2014, single mom Megan Gibson dropped her healthy, smiley, bouncy 2yo Son Ryder (Ninja) off at Pre-school before she went to her new job. All was how it should be until she received a call from the Pre-school that would change her and Ryder's life forever. She rushed to the Pre-school to find Ry pale, lethargic, and sweaty. She decided to rush him to the Children's Hospital. In just 24 hours she went from being a happy mom to a healthy happy typical 2yo toddler boy, to a mom of a child that is fighting cancer. On December 20th Ryder was diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney cancer. Doctors told her that they have to remove his kidney & do chemo and radiation. Ryder was scheduled to have surgery Monday December 22nd. As he waited for that time to come he had to have blood transfusions, because he is bleeding into the mass on his kidney. On Sunday December 21st, Megan was told the doctors can't do the surgery because of the risk of the mass rupturing and spreading cancer cells to his blood. The doctor's decided that chemo would the best course of treatment in hopes of shrinking and hardening the mass so they can safely remove it. On February 10th, Ryder completed his 6 week chemo treatment. The surgeons successfully removed the tumor from Ryder's body, along with his kidney, lymph nodes and part of his diaphragm. He will now continue his chemo and radiation treatments. Right now Megan doesn't have any benefits from her job due to her just starting 2 months ago and does not qualify for FMLA. Now Megan is going to have to stay home to take care of all of Ryder's needs. All of her family lives out of state and her parents are there now to support her and Ryder as they help out with all that they can.
We have setup this booster to raise awareness to childhood cancer, to raise money in hopes of alleviating the financial hardship due to Megan no longer working, to Mike for travel expenses during this time and most importantly to support our Ninja in his fight!!
