About this campaign

On June 22, 2013 my beautiful daughter Nina Marie was born at 30 weeks 6 days.

In December of 2012 my husband and I were overjoyed finding out that we were expecting our first child together. In March of 2013 we found out that we were expecting a little princess. I had a completely normal pregnancy up until the end of May, I started getting really bad headaches, upper abdominal pain and couldn't eat, at the time I thought it was just a stomach bug; however, little did I know that this wasn't just a stomach bug it was a silent killer. On June 21, 2013 I awoke from a nap with severe blurred vision and at that point I knew something was extremely wrong, I called my mom, my sister and my husband absolutely terrified of all the possibilities I went to the ER, after blood test I was diagnosed with HELLP Syndrome, a deadly rare form of pre-e. I fought for 16 hours not to have a c-section to decrease my chances of dying while giving my child life. At 12:15 pm on the 22nd of June my beautiful daughter was welcomed to the world weighing 3lbs3oz and thankfully breathing on her own; however, that was just the start of our 4 week NICU journey. Nina Marie Weidamoyer battled a level 4 brain bleed and had to get a blood transfusion, she had to adapt to the world much sooner than a baby should have to, her strength turned into a pure miracle. Today she is a happy and healthy 1 and a half year old. As a family my husband and I raise awareness for families who have experienced the same story as us and especially for those who were not as lucky as us.
