Team Karter 2

Karter James Lucas was conceived after a 7-year long battle with infertility. His conception was a true miracle! His mother, Kristin, had a normal pregnancy until around 19 weeks, when she was admitted to the hospital for pre-term labor and possible bag rupture. At almost 20 weeks, the doctors discovered that Karter's legs were sticking into Kristin's cervix. So she laid in her hospital bed, virtually upside down, for over a week to keep her little man in the womb. On June 14th, 2014 at 4am, Kristin started having contractions and heavy bleeding. At 9:50am, only 22 weeks 3 days gestation, Karter James was born into this world, weighing just under 1 pound (14oz). He came out feet first and was breathing on his own! They were able to intubate him, and he is now in stable condition in the NICU. Karter has a long road ahead of him, but continues to prove that he is a strong little fighter. He continues to amaze all of the doctors and medical staff, as they never imagined that he would have survived being born this early. He is truly a miracle!
