About this campaign

This August I will once again ride in the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise money for cancer research.  All profits from the sale of these shirts will be donated to the Pan-Mass Challenge and will also be matched.  You can show your support for Abby and help fight cancer by purchasing and wearing this shirt.

Any parent will tell you there are few things in life worse than having a sick child.  And if a parent could, they would gladly switch places and fight the disease or illness for them.

In 2010, after a long and stressful week in the hospital trying to figure out why our daughter (then 18 months old) wouldn’t stop vomiting, a bomb was dropped on our family.  Abby was diagnosed with a 3 centimeter 4th Ventricular Anaplastic Ependymoma.  Brain Cancer.

On March 3 of this year, after three and a half years, two surgeries, and two 30-day rounds of proton beam radiation therapy, Abby was diagnosed with cancer for a third time.  At this point, we don’t know what the future holds for Abby.  During that time we’ve lived in fear of a recurrence every day and lived through the reality of cancer three times.  It’s an experience no one should have to endure, much less a child.  Cancer has truly held our family hostage since 2010, and continues to do so.

So this August, I will once again join over 5,500 cyclists from all over the world raising money to benefit the Dana Farber Cancer Institute for cancer research.  I can’t fight Abby’s cancer for her, but I can ride 192 miles and raise money for research so that fewer children, parents, and family members have to go through our family’s fight against cancer.
