Team Ginger Strong NYC

Team Ginger Strong was founded when Kelly and her fiancé, Matt, flew out to San Francisco in February of 2014 to participate in Cycle for Survival. They had learned about it weeks before the events so the bikes were filled in their hometown, NYC. As was typical of the two, they decided "hey why not take a 32 hour vacation to San Francisco for such an important cause?" It was a life changing experience. It was empowering. It was a way for them to fight back.

Team Ginger Strong has expanded significantly since our first event for Cycle for Survival, were Kelly, Matt and six of their close friends got their first taste for this amazing cause. Next year, Kelly’s awesome company, text100, jumped on board in support of Kelly without hesitation, creating teams not just in NYC, but in Boston and San Francisco. While in September of 2014, Matt and Kelly got to ride in teir first Times Square Takeover, having a blast under the lights of Times Square, Kelly did not get to ride in 2015, having passed on January 2nd from her battle with Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the Pancreas.

In our two years of participating in Cycle for Survival we have proudly raised over 165,000 dollars in memory of Kelly and countless others who are battling rare cancer. We continue to ride to help those who are still fighting for their lives and for a better future for those who will one day face a rare cancer diagnosis.
