About this campaign

On April of 2014, Vincent was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer called Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma, also known as EHE. We need your help to raise money to help offset our family's medical and hospice care costs, as well as raise money and awareness for much needed EHE research.

Bradley vincentjpgBradley FamilyjpgBradley image onejpgIn April of 2014, Vincent was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer called Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma, also known as EHE. This form of cancer has very little funding or attention from outside sources because so few people are affected by it. Nearly every penny of research has been funded by EHE patients, families, and friends. Vincent is an Army veteran and spent his 13 years of active service in the U.S., Korea, Honduras, and Germany. He enjoys listening to and creating his own music in his self-created home studio. Vincent is a husband of 23 years and father of two boys (18 and 16). He worked in various positions at Lowe’s in the St. Mary’s and La Plata location for almost 10 years. Until recently, Vincent enjoyed ultimate Frisbee, watching soccer games, cross-country and track races, as well as marching band performances with his family. Throughout this journey, he has fought hard to maintain a positive attitude unwilling to let EHE cancer get him down. EHE is so rare; Vincent is truly one in a million. He was diagnosed with EHE after having a liver biopsy following over 10 years of misdiagnosed, excruciating back pain. There is not a cure or even a set treatment developed for EHE. Every patient, including Vincent, is considered experimental. His current course of treatment is CT scans every six months. Just recently, Vincent spent two weeks in ER and Cancer Unit of the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. As he is the first and only patient with this rare type of cancer at UMMC, doctors released him after having exhausted all viable treatment options. EHE cancer does not typically respond to chemo or radiation. In Vincent’s case, immunotherapy was also not successful. At this point, our top priority is to provide Vincent with the highest level of comfort and quality of life including management of the excruciating, cancer related pain. Dr. Brian Rubin, MD, PhD, is dedicating his research to EHE. Dr. Rubin is a global leader in EHE research. He discovered the disease’s genetic underlying genetic cause and, in 2013, became the first to grow and sustain an EHE cell line. According to The Cleveland Clinics official EHE Research page http://giving.ccf.org/goto/EHEresearch, Dr. Rubin is making advancements in the diagnosis, origin, and treatments of EHE. EHE families are trying to raise funds so he can continue his research. We hope to find a cure, or at least a treatment, to help patients such as Vincent and all of our EHE family. Right now, Dr. Rubin is our only hope. In 2015, the non-profit organization, The EHE Foundation, was founded to help with our efforts. For more information about EHE, please visit www.fightEHE.org. If you would like to help Vincent and everyone else affected by this cruel disease, please buy a t-shirt, make a donation, or simply share this page. Buying a t-shirt will help raise funds for medical bills and hospice care as well as awareness! A portion of each sale will also go to The EHE Foundation to support EHE research efforts. Thank you so much for all of your help, from Vincent, his family, and our extended EHE family. Your kindness will not go unnoticed!
