Surgery for Little Bird

Aderyn was born Aug 10, 2015, a happy, healthy baby. Less than 2 months later she was in the PICU at Children's Mercy with a severe infection. At that time we found out she has some birth defects and needed surgery.

The first problem, imperforate anus, affects one in 5,000 children and was not something we had ever heard of before. Aderyn is scheduled for surgery on March 28, at which point she will have a colostomy bag, then she will have re-connective surgery in about 3 months to get everything up and running again. If everything goes well she will have another surgery in a couple of years

to correct an issue with her kidneys and bladder (about 50% of the time imperforate anus comes along with other disorders; Aderyn's happen to be severe enough to need the more intense treatment).
