About this campaign

The Heart of Gold Sickle Cell Foundation of Northern Virginia needs your help to celebrate Sickle Cell Awareness month. This September we are selling shirts to stand out, speak up & support those that continue to battle with this often secretive disease. 100% of donations go to supporting the NOVA sickle cell community.

Those with sickle cell are often seen as poverty stricken, drug addicts and non-educated. A person with Sickle Cell spends their entire life fighting..fighting to survive, fighting to stay well, fighting to be listened to, fighting to be seen, fighting to be heard and fighting the pain. It's one of the only disease's where a person lives & dies with the same illness, never once knowing what it feels like to feel "normal". Participating in the fundraiser not only helps with spreading awareness but it allows us to.use each donation as a way to send a child with sickle cell to camp or supply the local hospitals with sickle cell comfort kits. Now it is your opportunity to work with us as we find ways to supply those with sickle cell a few reasons to smile.
