Developers want to demolish the historic Hotel DeMay to make way for a gas station and convenience store. Purchase a t-shirt and proudly show your support for this historic icon! Funds raised from the sale of t-shirts will go to The Landmark Society of Western New York and be put towards efforts to advocate for the reuse of the DeMay.
Developers want to demolish the historic Hotel DeMay to make way for a gas station, convenience store, and Dunkin' Donuts. The DeMay has been a fixture in the Greece community for decades--hosting weddings, parties, family gatherings, and more. Help us keep this important community asset in place!
The Hotel DeMay has stood at the corner of Latta and North Greece Roads in the historic hamlet of North Greece, New York since 1909. The building has gone by several names in those 108 years, including the North Greece Hotel, Moerlbach Hotel, Domino Inn, Cosmo Inn and Corner House Hotel. The DeMay (and its predecessors) was a popular gathering spot for Greece residents up through the late 1990s. After Irene DeMay passed away in 2000, the property was sold and has sat vacant for nearly two decades.

The DeMay is part of Greece history and should be saved. It is one of the only 100 year old buildings left in Greece and once it's gone, it's gone!
It's a cool old building with an interesting history. I would love to see it being repurposed.
I live in the area and DO NOT want a gas station/convenient store/Dunkin Donuts put on that corner! I think the DeMay should be renovated and repurposed. I love historic buildings, and it seems there aren't many left in Greece. It's very sad.
My husband and I started hanging around there in 1991 when we moved into the neighborhood. When he died in 1992, everyone there helped me through the ordeal, including Irene.
Hopefully this will help save the historic DeMay hotel.
I am tired of large corporations tearing down the beautiful old buildings in Greece. I believe it is possible to refurbish the DeMay back into a useful, lucrative business again-- with cooperation from the town officials,the owner and the community!
I have many fond childhood memories of DeMays and Irene DeMay was such a nice lady.
