Boston Run to Remember Half Marathon - Brittney Ross

My name is Robert Thompson.Iamcurrently employed as a Corrections Officer for the Maine Department of Corrections at the Southern Maine Re-Entry Center. This campaign is in honor of Brittney Ross who lost herbattle last month to Small Cell Cervical Cancer. I was fortunate to knowBrittney very well andwas herCorrectionspartnerforover a year at the SMRC before she took a police dispatcher position at the Portland Police Department.When “Ross” (I called her by her last name) contacted meaftershe first found out about the cancer it was a very tough phone call and hard news to swallow. Although the news was hard to hear, I didn’t have any doubts that she would put up the ultimate fight which she did.As everyone knows who knows her storyBrittneywas one hell of a fighter and giving up was not an option.During hercourageous battlewith cancerIbegan training for my first road race. I chose to compete in the Boston Runto Remember Half Marathon on May 24thof this yearwhich isa race inremembrancefor fallen LawEnforcement in Massachusetts.Throughout my training I wouldconstantly send videos/photos of where I was running to motivate Brittney to become healthy and keep fighting, and her response was always “you’recrazy”or”you’renuts”, but would always end with “thank you and I won’t stop fighting I promise”. On May 24thI will put my training tothetest and run this race in honor of my friend/partnerRoss and fight to the finish line as she would have done.
