About this campaign
100 red wolves exist in the wild today and they only live in ONE place -- in North Carolina. Without the help of places like the WNC Nature Center, they would be extinct.
Fewer than 250 red wolves are in America today! Less than 100 live in the wild and they only live in ONE place -- the Albemarle Peninsula. They are the only wolf that actually lived in America Without the help of places like the Western NC Nature Center, the red wolf would be extinct.
Many people think wolves are scary. They think wolves want to hurt them, their pets, and their homes. Red wolves are often mistaken for coyotes and killed. That's one reason why there are fewer red wolves. But wolves are more likely to stay in forests and far away from any people!
Wolves help keep our ecosystem in balance because they are great hunters and they eat lots of things in their area -- from deer to frogs!
