About this campaign

It is important that people are aware of the lack of clean water in African countries. Raising awareness of the scarcity of clean water in Africa is essentially important because of all the water problems in Kenya and other countries. Kenya is one of the African countries that is severely struggling with water problems and also one of the countries my group and I were interested in helping. We have decided to start a fundraiser as a possible solution to many of the water problems in Kenya. The money will be invested in a way to help provide clean, inexpensive water to people that live in African countries such as Kenya. Half of the world’s hospital beds are filled with people that are ill due to waterborne illnesses meaning that over 80% of illnesses are due to the water sanitization problems. The problems with the sanitization is one of the most devastating problems in Kenya and other parts of Africa. Last year alone nearly 7,000 children died because the water they used for everyday purposes wasn’t sanitized. Even though there are many other problems with Africa’s water this is one of the biggest. In the village Pumwani, Kenya there is another very concerning problem. Most women in the village are forced to deliver their babies on beds that have no linens. This problem is occurring because the hospital, along with most of the village, doesn’t have access to enough clean water. 4.1% of the mortalities in Kenya are infants under the age of 1. All of the water problems in Pumwani, the rest of Kenya and all of Africa are important to notice. By trying to raise awareness of the dirty and disease ridden water problems we are hoping to help Pumwani with their water purification processes.

Too often young people with an idea are met with "you can't do that". Let's inspire others to pursue their dreams! Best of luck Josh!

Clean water is a critical and basic resource; without it so many other benefits are missing. Without clean water, access to clean food is lost, and health status is compromised. Without a positive health status, how can youth be educated?! Etc.

I have lived in countries where people only have water around 3 times a week and where people must carry water for long distances. We SO take for granted what we have! Great job, Josh!

A most worthwhile project.
