About this campaign

“Execute Justice, not People!” when you buy a T-shirt. Please Help us Keep Hope Alive!

Project Hope to Abolish the Death Penalty is an organization founded by Alabama death row inmates in 1989 to educate the public about the injustices concerning the death penalty and bring about the abolition of capital punishment in Alabama. We are a 501 (c) 3 interfaith organization.

While much has changed in the past 26 years, Alabama remains a death penalty state. As such, the injustices remain. And while many states are ending capital punishment within their borders or seeking alternatives to the death penalty, Alabama seeks only to continue its long practice of capricious and discriminating execution. And currently, Alabama is not only trying to bring back the electric chair but, also to shroud their death penalty machine in secrecy. Keep in mind that capital punishment is a governmental program like health care and taxes. When you take away transparency so too goes accountability. Do we really trust the government to kill its citizens in a fair and equitable manner, while not trusting the same government to see to our healthcare and taxes? Do we trust the State of Alabama to gut the First Amendment with impunity just to continue its barbaric practice? We are not asking for pity, only for a voice, a voice that joins with yours to cry out.
