Penny is an amazing little girl! She is a perfect blend of sweet and sassy, and I have said that it is the sassy thathas helpedher get through this...On December 21, 2012 Penny (who was 5 at the time) was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Our world stopped. It was unbelievable to us that we were being told that our daughter had cancer…the day before, Penny was singing Taylor Swift on her Hello Kitty karaoke machine and dancing around the house; even the day of diagnosis she was smiling, laughing, and playing in the hospital room...and she continues to smile, laugh and play through it all. She is amazing! Penny started treatment immediately following her diagnosis, and remained in the hospital through Christmas Day. She is set to take her last chemo pill on April 18, 2015. It has been a long fight! We always joke that Penny is a "well balanced" little girl; because while she loves girly things, she's tough as nails (we credit her older brother, Joel, for that trait)! To our friends and family (and of course us too!), Penny is a super hero...we like to say she is #pennystrong! We know that if anyone can beat cancer, it is our Penny Girl! Cancer definitely picked the wrong girl!
