About this campaign

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 30,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.

In 2013 my family and I were struck by the sudden loss of my Uncle Mike. Even though we had lost touch, I will never forget the fun times we had... playing magic games with toys under the bed, or dancing to the Thriller music video upstairs. My family and I have been unfortunate enough to experience not only one suicide, but two. My Grandpa also took his own life many years ago when faced with the diagnosis of lung cancer. Help support me as I take the pledge to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention. On June 27, 2015, I will be walking out of the darkness and into the dawn on the 18 mile walk in Boston, with the hope that the money and awareness I raise will help someone in need before it's too late. There is hope out there, and that hope is us.
