STEM Days at OES

The OES Regatta was started two years ago.  It was our very first school wide "STEM Day."  It quickly became a favorite annual tradition for our students.  We now offer STEM Days on most days when we have a two hour early dismissal.  So when Mrs. Louann began saving milk cartons at lunch this week for us to reuse this year,  there was a familiar excitement that filled the air.  Students knew immediately what that meant.  Very soon, they will be turning those milk cartons into rain gutter ready sailboats. 

In addition to being lots of fun, STEM days at OES give our students an opportunity to apply what they have learned in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts.  Students are able to collaborate in small groups and communicate their ideas with one another as they attempt to solve real-life problems.
