About this campaign

New York Corporation Of Children Helping Young Kids In Haiti (NYCOCHYKIH) is a non-profit organization dedicated to aiding and preserving the lives of the children in Haiti. NYCOCHYKIH is working to construct a multi-purpose building where children can have stable living conditions, a cafeteria, clean bathrooms and classrooms to further their development. All funds raised will go directly to this endeavor.

New York Corporation of Children Helping Young Kids in Haiti (NYCOCHYKIH) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 by Robert-Reginald Lifranc. At that time Robert (Bobby) was 11 years old.

It all began when Robert went to Haiti with his mother and sisters in the summer of 2003. He was hot and thirsty but could not find water to drink. He saw his mother give her thermos of water to a woman who's toddler was about to pass out. He saw an old woman faint from thirst. Robert was so shocked that he decided on that same day that he would create an organization with children like himself. An organization that would build water fountains in Haiti so no children would ever be thirsty again.

While in Haiti he also saw children walking barefoot with their mothers begging for food in the streets. He then decided to build a cafeteria that would serve food on a daily basis to children so they would not go hungry. When Robert returned to New York he contacted his young friends, told them about his plans and began NYCOCHYKIH.

Robert needed money right away so, he tutored math to kids, he babysat children and he used his own $207.50 pocket money that he was saving to begin construction of the first water fountain. He asked for donations from many people and was able to build 6 water fountains in Bon Repos, Haiti. More work is to be done and the next major project is the construction of a multipurpose building to shelter and feed the children.
