Necessary Efforts in the Philly Fringe

The Naked Stark presents Necessary Efforts, a mixed-bill of dances that fill the Performance Garage with bold and intimate movement. In our first mixed-bill presentation, we are excited to showcase work by innovative choreographers who meld intense physicality, technical training, and experimentation. Necessary Efforts is part of the Neighborhood Fringe Festival with performances on Friday, September 12 at 7pm; Saturday, September 13 at 12pm; and Sunday September 14 at 3pm at the Performance Garage. Necessary Effortswill feature four 10-15 minute works.

With support from the Philadelphia Cultural Fund, our artistic director, Katherine Kiefer Stark is choreographing a new work,Invisible LUs. In addition, we are thrilled to present Beau Hancock, Shannon Murphy, andMegan Wilson Stern.

The Naked Stark is committed to movement as expression, movement as re-invention, and movement as power. We are curating a concert that invites audiences to witness effort emerge through raw and honest physicality that propels bodies through space. While the choreographers sharethe common thread of physicality and desire to embrace the large floating stage of the Performance Garage, we are excited about diversity of subject matter and approach to choreographic construction and believe this will be an engaging and rich experience for the audience.
