Okaloosa & Walton Counties Fundraiser for Mental Health

MHAOW was organized in 1958. It's our areas oldest non-profit that addresses mental health in every aspect, including public education, advocating for equal opportunity and treatment and supports individuals and families living with mental illnesses by purchasing psychiatric medications and providing Christmas gifts through Project Cheer,allof these things free of charge. On their website, http://www.mhaow.org/main.html, they offer information on various programs and services,treatment,screenings, support groups and muchmore.They also started the Okaloosa Guidance Clinic in 1969, now the Bridgeway Center, Inc, which helps the community by providing vital services such as a Crisis Hotline and Rape Crisis Center, Psychological Evaluation Services and even advocates on behalf of consumers for access to mental healthcare and services. http://www.bridgewaycenter.org/index.html Mental illness is common in my family, I've had friends suffer and I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder myself, suffering from Depression in the past. I've done a lot of research and it was heartbreaking to see that Florida is one of the lowest ranked states in terms of access to mental healthcare, even for Veterans. Fighting the stigmaassociated withmental health could not only produce a better mental healthcare system but could also save lives. I've designed this shirt with the official Mental Health Awareness color Lime Green in order to raise funds for the MHAOW and support mental health in our local community. Will you join me?
