About this campaign

Matthew's Crossing is looking to expand our programs and help break the cycle of poverty for our clients. We have launched an expansion campaign "Growing Gains: Small Changes. Big Results." to help raise $20,000 to support the costs associated withthis critical effort.

Matthew's Crossing is expanding our Food Bank and we need your support! Have you heard that Arizona is tied as one of the worst states in the nation for childhood hunger? More than 1 in 4 children in AZ do not know where their next meal will come from. With 40% of our clients being children aged 18 or younger, this is a fight we feel is worth fighting!

Following the motto 'Our faith is stronger than our fears' we have leased an additional 1,300 sq. ft. of space that became available to us unexpectedly. Having outgrown our current 1,500 sq. ft. for quite some time, the need for additional space was a top priority, yet the costs associated with moving to a new location were too high for consideration. Heather Heimsoth, Executive Director of Matthew's Crossing, states "The number of families needing our support continues to grow - just last week we served a record breaking 107 families in just a three hour period. Having this extra space will allow us to more effectively and efficiently keep up with this demand, and continue to provide food, basic necessities, and expanded programsto our neighbors in need."

Part of the goal of this expansion is to also look at expanding our services and offering additional programs to help break the cycle of poverty for our clients; possible topics will include nutrition classes, resume writing workshops, free flu shots/ immunizations, wellness seminars, workplace readiness, diabetes education, CPR classes, etc.

Last year, Matthew's Crossing provided food to 43,013 individuals, serving emergency food boxes to 12,773 households. Each month we feed more than 3,500 people. Most of our clients are working families. They are employed full-time or part-time. and yet still are in need of supplemental food. We also serve people between jobs, those on fixed incomes, infants, seniors, people with disabilities, and homeless clients.

By supporting this expansion and making a donation, you will also receive a limited edition, one-of-a-kind, 'Growing Gains: Small Changes. Big Results.'T-shirt. Please help by sharing this link and inviting your friends and family to support our expansion! After you receive your T-shirt, please proudly post a picture of you wearing your shirt to our Facebook page! Thank you for helping to unite our community in the fight against hunger!

Together, we CAN make a difference! Please visit our website for more information athttp://matthewscrossing.org/.
