About this campaign
Raise awareness of the crime of DUI & raise money for an award for a student studying marine biology. In memory & honor of Matthew Beard.
http://http//marinelab.fsu.edu/education/scholarships This fundraiser is to raise money for the Matt Beard Memorial Award and to raise awareness to the selfish and violent crime of DUI.
"The Matt Beard Memorial Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research"
This special award is given in memory of Matt Beard, a
young man who intended to devote his life's work to the conservation of
corals. During his senior year, when he had nearly completed a study on
coral recruitment in the Florida Keys, he was killed by a drunk driver.
His research was published posthumously. The
award is given to the student who embodies all that Matt exemplified as a
student of marine science and as a member of the FSUCML scientific
diving community.

Two good causes rolled into one... DUI prevention and saving our oceans. This fall, I am fortunate enough to have a work assignment in Australia and plan to visit the Great Barrier Reef. Hoping to relay Matts message and accomplishments.
