About this campaign

In March of last year, our daughter, Ainslee, was born seven weeks premature. During Ainslee'seighteen day hospital stay, we witnessed first-handthe ups-and-downs of a NICU stint. The emotional turmoil faced daily by parents of NICU bound babies was not only heartbreaking, but very much life changing as well. While we were extremely fortunate(given the short duration of Ainslee's NICU stay), many NICU parents do not share the same experience/outcome. Since Ainslee's birth, we've dedicated ourselves to assisting the March of Dimes in their fight against premature birth. With eacht-shirt purchase, you help fund research and development that can assist in life saving treatments and medications for babies born prematurely. So join us in our 'FIGHT FOR PREEMIES' as we raise funds for the March for Babies (a March of Dimesevent).

On March 19th of last year, ourlives changed forever. Our daughter, Ainslee, was born at 33 weeks gestation, seven weeks earlier than she should have been. Along with that came a stay in the St. Luke’s Hospital NICU in Kansas City, MO. Given her premature status, Ainslee was actually VERY lucky to be as healthy as she was. Even with the countless health risks to premature/underdeveloped babies, Ainslee proved to be an absolute all-star, requiring a mere eighteen day stay in the NICU (a rare feat). She was released from St. Luke’s at what would have been her 35 week mark (gestation wise). According to the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital, it was a rare occurrence to have a premature baby released from the NICU prior to what would be their 37th week of development.

Seeing the sights and sounds of that NICU on a daily basis was absolutely heartbreaking and utterly life changing. Not only will many of those NICU parents have to deal with a constant bombardment of health issues to their child, some won’t even get to leave the hospital with their baby in tow. We can think of nothing more gut-wrenching, personally. The March of Dimes funds and conducts research in support of finding and eliminating the underlying causes and issues associated with premature birth. Please consider helping us assist them in that fight!

"Having a premature baby is heartbreaking. It's scary, hard, sad, isolating and traumatic, and something that no one deserves to experience. But preemie parents know something that others don't... They know that, even despite all the pain and struggle and tears and sleepless nights, having a premature baby is still really, really wonderful."
