Mane Event SummerWinds Horse Rescue Fundraiser

Since January 2001, The SummerWinds Stables (SWS), with the help of a handful of volunteers, has been a leader in the community. Our mission is to provide rescue and sanctuary to abused, injured, homeless, and retired horses until they can be placed in permanent, loving homes; to provide aCertified equine-assisted therapeutic program to assist at-risk and low income children; and to discover and deepen the natural bond between horse and human through educational and outreach programs.

There are currently 22 abused and homeless horses housed at the SummerWinds Stables. Many of these horses were headed for slaughter in foreign countries, as owners can no longer afford to maintain them due to economic hardship, and we do not expect a break from the many phone calls, letters and emails we receive daily from owners and trainers who can no longer afford to keep their horses!

In addition, our facility also houses an equine-assisted therapy and therapeutic riding for at risk youth. These programs demonstrate how horses can help both low-income children and the handicapped to heal many of the physical and emotional issues that are keeping them from living full and happy lives.

Through love, caring, and the respect for the equine, The SummerWinds Stables protects and honors the American horse by:

Training them to participate in therapeutic programs, mainly for children. Saving many, healthy equines (including mustangs from the Western states) from inhumane deaths at slaughterhouses in Mexico and Canada. By finding permanent homes for them in the tri-state area.
