Malcolm X Elementary 5th Annual T-shirt Design Contest

The winner of this year's Malcolm X T-shirt Design Contest is Leonie Giftge, mother of Kindergartener Lily Giftge.

The design will be printed on an American Apparel t-shirts made in the USA. American Apparel is helping set standards for the industry. While being innovative and successful they also act in a socially and environmentally responsible way. The following information is from their website:

Our average garment worker earns $12 dollars an hour, with some wages reaching $22 dollars an hour for highly skilled sewers—some of the highest wages for clothing-manufacturing employees in the world.
