The Krewe of Athena (KOA) Carnival Club, Inc. was incorporated in March 2014. On June 11, 2014, the Jeffern Parish (J.P.) Council granted approval to change the parish ordinance to allow the Krewe to apply for a parade permit. The approval was solidified when the J.P. Office of Citizens' Affairs approved the application and granted permission for KOA to present a parade on the 1stFriday of the Mardi Gras Season alongthe traditional Metairie route. Since inceion, te Ladies of KOAave woked diligently to honor the organization's commitment to promoting a sense of community through service, fellowship, and fun. Adopting the motto "Lead through Service", the Krewe has hosted and/or participated in several events geared towards supporting those in need and bringing awareness to education, health, and crime issues. The Ladies of KOA are committed to embrace every opportunity to use the popular and rich traditions of Mardi Gras as a platform to positively impact the community. The Krewe is also focused on uplifting and nurturing women through quality fellowship experiences. Monthly fellowship events are scheduled to bring members together to socialize and network for the purpose of building strong relationships and to develop support systems.
