About this campaign

We are thrilled to have raised $18,000 in 18 days for kestrel conservation. Here's your chance to join our supporters and get your own limited-edition shirt!

Every purchased T-shirt and additional tax-deductible donation will help support American Kestrel (Falco sparverius) conservation scene. The American Kestrel Partnership is an international program initiated by The Peregrine Fund in 2012 in response to the long term decline of American Kestrels.

The American Kestrel Partnershiprepresents one of the newest projects of The Peregrine Fund. The American Kestrel has been in decline since at least the 1960s. However, as of yet, there has been no rigorous scientific evidence to explain the decline. Several hypotheses have been proposed, buthere has been study that points to a definitive cause for these declines. Our partners across the western hemisphere monitor kestrel boxes and report their data on our interactive website. Partnersontribute in other ways as well, including through education outreach, monetary donations or donations of art and photographs, and bypreading the word about our work. You can become a partner here. Our objective is to use partnership data to begin to understand the causes of decline of our smallest falcon. By sporting your American Kestrel T-shirt, we hope you will engage in conversations regarding the mysterious decline of the American Kestrel and the role of the American Kestrel Partnership in uncovering the cause(s) leading to the species' decline. Thanks for your support!

The Peregrine Fund, established in 1970, is the leading international organization charged with conserving birds of prey around the world. The non-profit organization w established in response to the rapid decline of Peregrine Falcons due to the use of the pesticide DDT, which caused nest failure due to eggshell thinning. The Peregrine Falcon was the very first species to be listed on the Endangered Species Act. In 1999 due largely to the efforts of The Peregrine Fund, the species had coved to a point where they no longer needed protection by the Endangered Species Act and so they weree-listed. Toda The Peregrine Fund suorts conservation of birds prey globally.

We extend our deepest gratitude to artist Scott Partridge (jevaart.com) who generously donated his "Kestrels" piece, re-purposed specifically for e 2016 American Kestrel Partnership's T-Shirt Fundraiser. Excerpt from Scott's Artist Statement: "My aesthetic instincts are directed by cues from nature, geometry, the personalities of shapes, as well as the precedents and insular logic a piece establishes for itself as it develop I gravitate towards what I find beautiful, butlso unsettling."
