Saved by our non profit rescue, Forever Amber Acres Animal Sanctuary (FAAAS) in April 2012, JoJo was thrown away in the woods during a frigid Ohio winter; abandoned in STARVING condition! After arriving to our sanctuary it quickly became evident something was not "right" and we had our veterinarian run extensive blood work, only to reveal that JoJo had a life threatening illness diagnosed as EPI https://www.epi4dogs.com/ (her body lacks enzymes and therefore she can not process food and maintain nutrition), without a VERY expensive 2x daily medication, special diet and other vitamins and meds. MANY months later when she finally began to double her body weight, we realized that HERE is where she belonged and has been thriving under our tender loving care since.  One year ago TODAY, on 3/17/15 JoJo and her volunteer handler Tara completed the Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dog Certification and together they have been making monthly therapy visits to area nursing homes and other community outreach since.  TODAY we celebrate JoJo's life, all that she gives to others in need.
