About this campaign

Jay is well on his way to crushing cancer.  He is about 60% of the way through his cancer "roadmap."  Many people have asked what we need and how to support him.  If you purchase a shirt a portion of your payment will go straight to Jay.  After his leg surgery and knee replacement he will be limited to bicycling and swimming for his rehab.  If you purchase a t-shirt we would love for you to send us a picture of you wearing it.  We would like to put these pictures up all over his room.

On October 8th, 2014 Jay was seen by an orthopedic doctor for what we thought was a simple knee injury.  After many MRI's, bone scans and a biopsy he was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma of his left femur on October 16th.  Only 11 days later he began chemotherapy and his long, difficult journey to crush cancer.  His first 10 weeks of therapy were difficult and sometimes torturous.  Side effects seemed to come one after the other.  Mouth sores, weight loss, seizures, severe nausea and vomiting, ringing in his ears and hearing loss are just a few to mention.  After many medication changes, surgical interventions and finally a g-tube for direct nutrition he seems to have made it around a small curve.  On January 26, 2015 he had a major surgery to replace his left knee and remove a portion of his femur which was replaced with a rod.  The surgery went very well with no complications.  He was up and out of bed the very next day with his physical therapist. The doctors wanted the tumor to have 95% necrosis which means that the chemotherapy would have killed almost all the cancer.  Unfortunately his pathology only showed that 50% of the tumor was dead. His oncology doctors are consulting with others around the nation to see if there will be any changes in his treatment plan. He resumed chemotherapy on February 17, 2015 and will continue this journey through the end of June.  Once his chemotherapy is complete his real physical therapy will begin on his leg.  He will be limited to bicycling and swimming and other low impact activities to limit the amount of stress on his knee and rod.  We want to thank each and everyone of you for your continued prayers, love and support. #crushcancer
