Please join us in buying a Team Green shirt to help represent my son Issac at the first annual BDA walk on May 9th. All proceeds will go to the local Bleeding Disorder Association who works through Albany Medical Children's Hospital. As many of you know my son, Issac Green, was diagnosed several years ago with the bleeding disorder Von Willebrands. "Von Willebrands disease is an under diagnosed blood disorder in which the blood does not clot properly." There is NO CURE. This disease causes easy bruising, prolonged bleeding and at time unexpected bleeding with no known cause. Physical trauma can cause internal bleeding on a higher scale than you or I. The abnormal bleeding can cause blood to go into the joints, the abdomen and the brain. This disease also can cause adverse health issues in adulthood. We consider ourselves very blessed to be part of the Albany Children's Hospital Family. All proceeds raised will go to helping the our local area. The proceeds help with such things as reimbursement for medical appointments and Medic Alert, which all children with bleeding disorders must wear. Its also go into funding scholarships as well as camps and activities for patients and their families. One of my favorites is the camps they offer to these kids with full medical staffing so that for at least a week they can feel like everyone else. The BDA alsoprovides education for patients and their families. The list just goes on and on. I would love to see all of you at the walk wearing your "Team Green" proudly.
