About this campaign

The H Sanders Anglea Scholarship Fund needs your support. The shirts promote our Unity in Service, our website at www.iooftn.org and are ideal shirts to wear when doing community service projects, parades, or special meetings or any other day of the year.

The Honorable H. Sanders Anglea, at the time of his death, was the Senior Past Sovereign Grand Master of The Sovereign Grand Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, having served as world leader of his fraternity in 1955-1956, and was Grand Secretary Emeritus of the Grand Lodge in Tennessee, where he served with honor and distinction for more than forty years. A practicing Attorney-At-Law, for over fifty years, a distinguished government official, he served as Vice-Mayor of Nashville and was the first Councilman-At-Large in the combined Metropolitan Government of Nashville-Davidson County. He previously served in the House of Representatives of the State of Tennessee. An Odd Fellow for more than sixty years, as he was nearing the end of his life, the Past Sovereign Grand Masters approached one of their number, Charles Worrell about a way of perpetuating his memory. Thus, the idea of a Memorial Scholarship was born. Application is made by simple letter requesting consideration for the same to the Board of Trustees. With an Order affiliation, when funds are available, the request is automatically granted, providing the student has completed one semester of college, and maintained a B average or above. These conditions apply to all applicants. The funds are allotted to four scholarships annually in the amount of two hundred fifty dollars, which will pay a big part of the cost of books, and, is available at least two times, depending on grades and availability of funds.
