About this campaign

Help the Hudson Valley SPCA pay medical expenses and rebuild its kennel and following a fire that took the lives of 2 dogs and leaving 5 others hospitalized with burns and smoke inhalation.

It is every rescuer's worst nightmare: The predawn call that their shelter is on fire! This is what the team at the Hudson Valley SPCA in New Windsor, NY awoke to Sunday, March 23rd. A fire, apparently sparked by a drier hose, took down a kennel building at our facility. Two dogs, Harley and Johnny, were lost in the blaze. Five others suffered burns and smoke inhalation and were taken to a local animal ER where they continue to undergo treatment. More than 20 displaced dogs have been placed in emergency foster care. We are praying that we can we can find the funds needed to pay the mounting veterinary bills as well rebuild our kennel so that we continue our valuable work!

The Hudson Valley SPCA is the only no-kill animal shelter in the Newburgh area, as well as the only source of humane law enforcement in Orange County, NY. Our dedicated team of volunteers shelter, protect and defend animals, and actively seek out loving homes that will care for those animals for the rest of their lives.

We do not receive money from the ASPCA or any federal, state or local government agencies. Our survival depends on the generosity of people like you!
