Amanda's Eye Treatment

When my mom was a teenager, she had a surgery that went wrong and shattered her face. Because of this, her face is mostly made up of metal and other materials. Over time her face has begun to collapse, putting pressure on the nerves to her eyes. This has made it extremely difficult for her to see, and has also given her lots of pain in her face. There is a doctor that can build a splint for her jaw to take the pressure off of her eyes, allowing her to see easily again. The cost of the splint is about $3000 and because it is experimental, insurance doesn't cover it. I know my mom would never pay for this herself, because she is always more concerned with providing for me and my sisters.
