Support Scholarships for Inner City Youth!

The city of East Cleveland, OHis a small urban city of about 17,000 residents that sits right outside of Cleveland. The city itself is currently facing many financial issues that prevent progression. There is one high school within this city that isfilled with many promising students who's families face financial issues similar to those of the city at large. With a median house hold income of about $20,000 per year, many students are unable to pay for their college expenses. Because of this, a small group of Shaw Alumni founded an organization dedicated to serving these students and getting them the resources that they need in order to accomplish their goals. The Cardinal Nest is an organization dedicated to helping the students of Shaw High School and East Cleveland to be successful. Through our mission, purpose and objectives, we are able to impact many students. The Cardinal Nest was officially incorporated on February 17, 2015, although the initial cohort of students was established in September 2014.

Mission Statement: The Cardinal Nest Foundation will provide the students of Shaw High School with a sense of pride in their community, hope for their future, and the tools necessary to reach their goals.

Purpose: The purpose of The Cardinal Nest Foundation is to prepare the students of Shaw High School for their post-graduation endeavors so that they may reach optimum levels of success.

Objectives:
- To provide a network of mentors primarily to motivate and guide students
- To raise funds for scholarships and programming geared toward the purpose of the organization.
-To organize and facilitate workshops, conferences, and college tours for students
- To provide continuous support to students in order to increase the high school graduation rate and the college retention rate
