Haydon Family Adoption

Kevin and Wendy Haydon don’t remember when they officially met, but they are pretty sure it was sometime in the fall of 1995! After a couple of years of friendship they started spending “a lot” of time together and decided they should start dating and they’ve been together ever since! Kevin and Wendy have been married since September 2000. Wendy is a Registered Nurse with a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education and works for a large health system in Southeast Texas. She has spent her entire nursing career working with cancer patients and their families and can’t think of a better job! Kevin currently works for a national Christian bookstore and education retailer as well as national construction materials company. Kevin and Wendy have patiently been waiting for God to bless them with children, when He was ready, thinking that it would happen biologically; up until recently that is! Kevin and Wendy had been following the journey her cousin’s have been taking in adopting two beautiful girls in Eastern Europe through Reece’s Rainbow. One day Wendy’s cousin posted a picture of a precious little angel, Sydney, that had just come up for adoption and she showed her picture to Kevin. The next day they told each other that they couldn’t stop staring at her picture and how her eyes seemed to have looked straight into their hearts! After talking about what was happening in their hearts, they realized that the Lord had been leading them to adoptionfor many years. They had both been praying that He would bring them “onto the same page” when the time was right. While they were in the homestudy process, a law banning adoptions from that country was passed and once again their dream of becoming parents was put on hold.

After months of praying and waiting, it became clear that they would not be able to proceed with bringing Sydney home, due to their early stage in the process. God began to place the desire to bring home an older child, Zach, into their hearts. They are heartbroken yet thankful that God has renewed their hope of bringing a child into their lives. They would be grateful for prayers, that He would prepare ALL of their hearts to be a new family. You can follow their journey more closely on their BLOG.
