About this campaign

Please help us as we help the Black family financially and emotionally while they prepare for their 18 year old daughter Hannah's upcoming kidney transplant. A whole group of people have been supporting the Blacks for the past few months after word got out that Hannah was in End Stage Renal Failure and needed a new kidney. The Blacks live two hours away from where Hannah gets all her treatments and tests in Salt Lake City. The past months have been a mental, physical and monetary drain for the Black family as they constantly drive back and forth from their home in Wyoming, always wondering what the next day or test result will bring. Hannah has had to suspend her college studies while she and her Mom, Dad and brother Michael cope with her kidney failure. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT HANNAH WILL BE GETTING A KIDNEY FROM MOM MICHELLE ON TUESDAY JUNE 3!!! It's exciting, but at the same time scary, news.

This story kind of begins with my (Rob's) story. Shortly after I moved to Utah in 2010, I was diagnosed with rectal cancer. I had known Dave Black in "cyberspace" due to our shared love for the band Pearl Jam. After my cancer diagnosis, I met Dave in person. We became good friends and he and his family were very supportive throughout my cancer treatment (radiation, chemo, surgery, more chemo). I really appreciated everything Dave, Michelle, Hannah and Michael did for me. When I heard about Hannah's illness, I contacted some fellow Pearl Jam friends to lend support. We started with a "card campaign" for Hannah and followed that with the first iteration of the "Hannah STRONG" t-shirt campaign. We sold 127 shirts to folks around the world and raised a bunch of money (while keeping it secret for a month)! During that time, Hannah's kidneys failed to the point where she had to start thrice a week dialysis. It was a very, very tough time for the family. When the first t-shirt campaign ended, Hannah had still not found a suitable kidney. After many starts, stops and dashed hopes it was determined that Mom Michelle can be Hannah's kidney donor. Please buy a shirt or three to support this awesome, caring family!!  Even if you can't help, please spread the word! This time it is NOT a secret. Thank you for your consideration and support!!!!!
