About this campaign

The purchase of this shirt will help prevent the sale and eventual abandonment of rabbits around Easter time and other holidays, like Christmas and Hanukkah. Wear this shirt proudly on holidays, like Easter, or other special occasionsin order to save bunny lives! Help prevent bunnies from being given as gifts! All proceeds will go toward the proper medical care (by an exotic vet) and spay/neuterof dumped rabbits, as well as the spay/neuter surgeries of bunnies currently being cared for by non-profit rabbit rescues:Sivan's Rabbit Rescue South Florida, Inc. AKA the South Florida Rabbit Rescue and The Sweet Bunny Project.

When you buy this shirt, you are helpingdispel the myth that rabbits are cuddly, docile creatures that like to be held by children. You are sending the message that baby bunnies or any rabbits are not gifts, basket stuffers, or objects of entertainment. Rather, they are a long-termcommitment.This shirt helpspeople understand the following important rabbit facts:
- Rabbits are not toys or gifts. They are living, breathing creatures that require extensive work and commitment. They are also prey animals, so they are wired to believe everything is trying to hurt them.
- Rabbits are not always cuddly and do not usually like to be hauled around. They enjoy being met at eye level and are highly intelligent, social creatures.
- Rabbits need to live indoors to be safe from diseases and predators.
- Rabbits are not low maintenance or "starter"pets. They require as much work as a cat or dog, if not more.Rabbits have high social needs and often want another rabbit as a companion. Kids lose interest quickly and rabbits need love and support for a lifetime.
- Rabbits live for approximately 10 to 12 years, sometimes longer. Rabbits need medical care from an Exotics vet. Spay/neuter is about$150+ or more.
- Rabbits require routine veterinary care. Rabbits have special diets and housing needs.
- Rabbits cannot be set "free"--it's a death sentence. Usually, they suffer a slow, agonizing death within 72 hours of this so-called "freedom".
- MOST RABBITS PURCHASED AS EASTER GIFTS END UP ABANDONED ON THE STREETS OR AT SHELTERS.

If you're looking to adopt a rabbit or to obtain more info on rabbit care, please contact The Sweet Bunny Project or theSouthFlorida Rabbit Rescue.
