Free Clint Lorance

Dedicated, loyal, hard working, kind, caring, compassionate, silly, loving. When you ask those who know Clint Lorance to describe his character these are just a small sampling of the responses. from a young child Clint knew his purpose. Go placed him on this earth to be a protector, to be a leader, to stand up and face danger when others could not. He had a life plan, graduate college, graduate police academy, and become a Texas State Trooper. After the tragic events of 9-11 Clint began evaluating his prior life plan. He began to see life on a much larger scale. He started doing his research on the Military. He went over the pros and cons of each branch and eventually found himself at the local Army recruiting office. When he was a mere 18 years old he enlisted as a Military Police Officer for the United States Army. He was so proud that he was going to be able to stand up for his country. Over the next 10 years Clint was stationed from Korea to Alaska to Georgia to North Carolina. He deployed to Iraq as Military Police and was honored to do so. Thinking long term, Clint decided that it was time to take the next step in his career and enrolled in Officer Candidate School while simultaneously enrolling back into college. 1n 2010, Clint graduated UNT Denton with his Bachelors degree and Commissioned toOfficer with the rank of LT, all withinone day of each other.Upon becoming anOfficer, a title that held much higher standards and a degree of respect that Clint was proud to hold. He aligned himself to be stationed in Ft. Bragg, NC. One of the most prestigious military bases in the Army, Clint knew this is where he needed to be. He felt that this location could provide him with the greatest level of training and knowledge that the Army had to offer. In February 2012 Clint's unit deployed to Afghanistan. From Feb- May Clint had theamazing opportunity to serve at the Headquarters location in Afghanistan A position that put him in direct contact with some of the most respected leaders in his Unit. He was able to observe the tactics in which these men and women made decisions andhe was oftenseentakingnotes and studyinglocal mapsin order to be prepared for the moment hewas called to leadon thebattlefield. That moment was in May 2012 when the previous LT on the field was injured to the point he could no longer proceed. Clint was hand selected based on his stellar performance at headquarters. Upon being assigned his new duty, Clint immediately called his family to advise them that he he would not be able to make frequent contact and for them not to worry and more importantly to remind them how much he loved them. The moment Clint was assigned his new Platoon he began researching the men he would be leading. He wanted to know the true men that he would be responsible for bringing back home to their families. This particular unit had been under heavy fire and suffered great loss throughout their platoon. So much so they had to be pulled back to a safe zone in order to regroup and meet with the Chaplain. That pushes us out to the last week in June/ beginning of July. This is when the Platoon began their patrol together. On the first day of foot patrol, the Platoon was attacked from behind and by the grace of God no one was injured. Day 2, on foot patrol once again, the unit was making there ways through the grape rows when ahead a motorcycle carrying 3 military aged men of Afghan descent began racing toward the Platoon at a 'faster than normal rate of speed'. The Afghan National Army that was on patrol with Clint's platoon immediately asked to eliminate the threat. Clint assessed that it would be safer for his sniper, sitting yards away, to take the shot. He ordered one word, 'ENGAGE'. This one word has forever changed the lives of Clint and his family. He has since been charged with MURDER for the events that day. He is now serving a 20 year sentence at Ft. Leavenworth, KS for War Crimes.... Please help us in spreading his story and fighting for his freedom just as he fought for ours.
