Cats and dogs can go to a normal animal shelter when an owner wants to relinquish them, but where do unwanted exotic pets go? The exotic pet trade is huge and there are ultimately some animals abandoned along the way, but normal shelters won't accept them.

Critter Camp is a unique animal shelter, and perhaps the only of its kind in the United States. They rescue and care for unwanted exotic pets -- everything from ferrets, rats, birds, and reptiles, and they have even rescued a couple of foxes! Critter Camp doesn't rescue only "pet quality" exotics, because animals are given a forever home with them, no matter how unfriendly the animal may seem. Exotic pets sheltered by Critter Camp can expect a forever home for the rest of their lives.

Unfortunately, grants tend to value shelters that adopt out pets, which puts Critter Camp at a disadvantage, because this shelter would rather provide a safe and secure home to the animals they rescue. That means they need funding to pay for food and supplies more than your average shelter.
