About this campaign

Cloud and his family need your support during his battle with Leaukemia.

10155045995570029jpgMy name is Cloud Onyx Mackie. I am the son of Thomas Daniel Mackie and Pamela Karen Leask. I live on a native reserve in Metlakatla, Alaska. On January 6, 2015, when I was only 18 months old, I was diagnosed with pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It is an aggresive cancer that doubles every 48 hours. Beacause of no one able to treat me where I live and how bad my cancer was, my family and I had to be lifeflighted to Seattle, Washington for immediate treatment. My mother turned down a job and my father took a leave of absence from work to be with me during my treatment at Seattle Children's Hospital.  We also brought my two sisters down because the doctors say that I'll recover faster with them here. We have been staying in a hotel or the hospital since we have arrived here. Our insurance is helping cover most of the costs, but my parents currently being unemployed and my diagnosis, is making it very difficult for my family to remain together here in Seattle. We were unable to go to the Ronald McDonald house beacaue of my cancer making me very immunosupressed. It makes it hard for me to be around people and I will only allow my parents to cook for me. When I was getting food prepared from others I got a very bad virus called the norovirus that put me in the hospital for 3 weeks. In the McDonald house, we have very little room for food storage, and all of my family would share a room, and we would share the facilities with around 20 other families. This would be hard for all of us because when I'm sick, I wake everyone up and staying around other families could increase the chances of me getting sick. This past week I got the RSV virus and had to go back to the hospital. They kept me there for 4 days because it was developing into pneumonia, which is very dangerous for me. Thanks to the doctors, I never got pneumonia. Last month we discovered that the doctors are going to make me stay in Seattle through October 2015. We  have applied for funding at multiple places, are waiting for my parents tax returns, and are getting donations from friends and family across the globe. I and my family are so grateful for everyone and their support. We could never thank everyone enough for eveything everyone has done or is doing. We love you all!
