About this campaign

Lindsey Averill and Viridiana Liebermanare currently producingan independent documentary that reveals how fat hatred is so inherent inour popular culture. The film is in production but needs your help! The proceeds from these t-shirts could make a difference!

5f128f3316cee906d41c3f8bf57600df_largejpgLindsey, Viridiana, and many others; including myself, feel that many people could be betterinformed when it comes to fatness. Lindsey, Viridiana and the contributors to this filmwant to offer a different viewinto the popular notions that condemn fatness in all forms. They want to provide an argument that overturns notions of fat hatred in favor of body acceptance.

The media and other cultural sources say that people need to lose weight - that obesity is a deadly epidemic. For example, according to ASDAH, "Weight and BMI are poor predictors of disease and longevity. The bulk of epidemiological evidence suggests that five pounds “underweight” is more dangerous than 75 pounds “overweight.” This film's goal isto educate and activate. It is their goal to inform people about the harsh and very real realities of fat shaming and fat hatred.

They alsohope to inspire people to speak out about the prejudice they face or the mistreatment of others.

Lindsay and Viridianaare making a feature-length independent documentary that exposes how fat hatred permeates our popular culture, spreading the message that fat is bad and in turn forwarding the idea that being cruel, unkind or downright unjust to a fat person is acceptable behavior. As you can tell from theirtrailer, their film is already in production. They have a kickstarter created to help meet their goal in order to have this film made. But, let's see if we can do more! A portion of theproceeds from these t-shirts will help make this incredibly important film a reality. Thegoal is to get their film finished, out there, and changing the world by the end of 2015!

If you want to contribute directly to the production of the this film please visit the kickstarter created.https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/319256879/fattitude-a-body-positive-documentary
